Black Bay Chrono "Blue"

Pushing the boundaries

The Black Bay Chrono is already a daring design, and with this boutique exclusive, it now features a “TUDOR Blue” dial that adds a distinct character and perpetuates a very TUDOR tradition. This new Black Bay Chrono model combines this tradition in a sports chronograph for purists, with contrasting sub-counters and a high-performance automatic Manufacture Calibre, with column wheel and vertical clutch.

  • DECADES OF TUDOR CHRONOGRAPHS

Since the launch in 1970 of the Oysterdate model, its first chronograph, TUDOR has always produced watches that are closely tied to the world of motor sport. Since 1954, TUDOR has been constantly improving its professional divers’ watches. The Black Bay Chrono model combines these traditions in a sports chronograph for purists, with contrasting sub-counters and a high-performance automatic Manufacture Calibre, with column wheel and vertical clutch.

  • TUDOR OYSTERDATE CHRONOGRAPH BLUE “MONTECARLO”

The first blue chronograph TUDOR made came in two different bezel configurations: blue 12-hour rotating bezel or blue tachymeter-scale fixed bezel.

  • TUDOR PRINCE OYSTERDATE CHRONOGRAPH BLUE “BIG BLOCK”

The first automatic chronograph from TUDOR, often nicknamed “Big Block” due to its muscular profile, was launched in 1976 and offered in a blue configuration.

    1976
  • TUDOR PRINCE DATE BLUE “SMALL BLOCK”

The evolution of the first TUDOR automatic chronograph came in a more streamlined case and from the mid-90’s with a choice of an entirely blue dial.

    1997
  • TUDOR HERITAGE CHRONO BLUE “MONTECARLO”

When the Heritage Chrono Blue model came out, paying homage to the early days of TUDOR chronographs, it featured a blue dial with matching strap.

SPIRIT OF ASPHALT AND SEA

The recognisable characteristics of the Black Bay line – satin-brushed and polished finishes, bevelled lugs and TUDOR rose-signed crown - are preserved in this version with a steel case and a 41-millimetre diameter. The design of the stainless steel pushers are inspired by the very first generation of TUDOR chronographs. A fixed bezel in stainless steel complete with a tachymetric scale insert in blue anodised aluminium completes the look and function of these sporty chronographs.

The dial features

BLUE DIAL

The dial features a domed blue satin sun-brushed with contrasting silver circular sub-counters. It taps into TUDOR’s rich tradition of incorporating blue dials into all the lines of the collection. Throughout the decades, the brand has pioneered blue hues in a number of designs. This has led to the notion of “TUDOR Blue”, referring to its permanence in TUDOR characteristic aesthetics more than the colour itself.

stainless-steel bracelet

STEEL BRACELET WITH “T-FIT” CLASP

This new Black Bay Chrono model comes fitted on a 5-link stainless-steel bracelet with TUDOR “T-fit” rapid adjustment clasp. Easy to use, this practical system allows wearers to carry out a fine, instant adjustment of the total length of the bracelet along an adjustment window of 8mm. The clasp also features ceramic ball bearings that ensure a secure closure in addition to adding a tactile element to the action of the clasp.

The Manufacture Chronograph Calibre MT5813

MANUFACTURE CHRONOGRAPH CALIBRE MT5813

The Manufacture Chronograph Calibre MT5813, which powers the Black Bay Chrono model, displays hour, minute, second, chronograph and date functions. It has the finish typical of TUDOR Manufacture Calibres. Its rotor in tungsten monobloc is openwork and satin-brushed with sand-blasted details, and its bridges and mainplate have alternate sand-blasted and polished surfaces with laser decorations.

Snowflake

CHARACTERISTIC “SNOWFLAKE” HANDS

Like other models in the Black Bay range, the Black Bay Chrono has adopted TUDOR's characteristic angular hands known as “Snowflake” that first appeared in the brand’s 1969 catalogue. Resolutely anchored in the present, this model brings together almost seven decades of TUDOR divers' watches. Whilst it is neo-vintage in conception, its manufacturing techniques and its robustness, reliability, durability and precision as well as the quality of its finish are above modern industry standards.
