In early November of every year, members of the watch industry descend upon Geneva to take part in the spectacle known as the Grand Prix d'Horlogerie de Genève (GPHG). The purpose of the GPHG is to highlight the best watches from the past year in numerous categories and generally promote the craft of watchmaking around the globe by raising awareness of exceptional watches. It’s often referred to as “the Oscars of watchmaking” for the jury-style nomination and award format, not to mention that pomp and ceremony of it all. An academy of 827 members nominate the watches, and a jury of 30 make the final decision when it comes to the winners.

This year, TUDOR took home the award for Best Sports Watch with the Pelagos 39.

The 2023 GPHG marks a special moment in TUDOR’s history, as the Pelagos 39 is the ninth watch to be awarded in an eleven-year period. TUDOR has taken home awards in ’13, ’15, ’16, ’17, ’19, ’20, ’21, ’22, and now with the Pelagos 39, ’23.

The Pelagos 39 is a sports watch imbued with the rich dive watch heritage of TUDOR, but also focuses on sophistication and functionality under the waves as well as an urban environment. As part of the Pelagos line first released in 2012, the Pelagos 39 is the first in the Pelagos line to focus not only on underwater technical performance, but the versatility of a reduced form factor with a 39mm case in grade 2 Titanium.
